The CIPD (The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) has been surveying over 1,000 people professionals – representing 4.5 million employees – from across the UK in the last 20 years.

Annually, it publishes its findings in “Health and Well-Being at Work Survey Report”. As per survey, top three causes of long-term absence across organisations are:

  1. Mental ill health (anxiety, depression, stress)
  2. Musculoskeletal injuries (including back pain, neck strains and repetitive strain injury)
  3. Stress

 

Levels of work-related stress and mental health-related issues keep rising. Stress is among top three causes of short- and long-term absence and is the primary cause of long-term absence in over a fifth of organisations.


The main causes of stress at work:

How I Discovered This System

In 2015, I was working as an international HR Business Partner. My workload and responsibilities continued to increase as the company grew internationally. I began suffering physically, mentally and emotionally. I was working long hours and skipping breaks to increase my productivity but it did not help. I constantly felt tired, worn-out and stressed. Our company organised team events, parties and whist they were nice, they did nothing to alleviate the stress of my day to day work life. I began to dread going in to work, which naturally affected my productivity. I regularly felt unwell, including having trapped nerves in my neck (a common symptom of stress) I was completely exhausted all of the time. I was burning out and I did not know what to do about it.
